The first wedding of the year always feels special for me, and Dylan and Kellie’s celebration at The West Tower was no different. It was a crisp Saturday in Feb, bright and sunny but with a little chill in the air, perfect for a winter/early spring wedding. From the morning preparations to the electric evening reception, every moment helped tell a story of their day.
Morning Preparations and Details
The day began with the girls getting ready in a calm, joyful atmosphere. I focused on candid shots, capturing natural moments of laughter, anticipation, and the delicate details that make a wedding unique. Shots of the makeup process, the intricate lace of Kellie’s dress, and the carefully arranged floral accents set the tone for the day.
Ceremony and Confetti Celebration
The ceremony took place in the stunning ballroom at The West Tower, decorated with a classy white floral theme that complemented the winter setting beautifully. After the vows, we moved quickly outside for a confetti shot, a joyful celebration against the elegant backdrop of the house.
Family photos followed, relaxed and warm, before we took Dylan and Kellie on a stroll around the estate. These candid moments, framed by the natural beauty of the grounds, are some of my favorite images from the day. They show the couple enjoying their first moments together as newlyweds, away from the crowd.
Reception and Sunset Shots
The reception was held in the cozy cellar bar, offering a chilled atmosphere for guests to mingle. As speeches began back up in the ballroom and the delicious meal was served, I kept an eye on the fading light outside hoping we might see our first sunset of the year! Just before the casino-themed hour kicked off, we stepped outside to capture the first sunset of the year!
Evening Vibes with Direct Flash Photography
The casino-themed hour brought a unmatched energy to the cellar bar, and I switched to off-camera flash photography to create a classy, old-movie vibe. I just loove how direct flash creates such a timeless feel to the evening, it brings an energy with it which is perfect for the evening events; cake cutting, the first dance, and all the boogying that followed.
Dylan and Kellie’s wedding at The West Tower was a wonderful example of how winter weddings can be full of light, warmth, and joy. From the candid moments in the morning to the unmatched sunset shots, this day offered plenty of wedding inspiration for couples planning their own celebrations in the North West. Whether you’re considering Liverpool weddings, Formby weddings, or Ormskirk weddings, venues like The West Tower provide a stunning setting for memorable UK weddings.
If you’re interested in documentary style wedding photography that captures genuine moments with a creative edge, winter weddings like this one offer incredible opportunities. The mix of natural light, seasonal atmosphere, and lively celebrations make for images that tell a true and honest story.
